First and foremost, oh my god, guys. I’m so happy to see all the different characters that have been submitted to Rising Sparks. If I ever need a pick-me-up, I just look over the yellow pages or the art and stories that have already been created. It’s going great and I’d love to see more members and more characters still!

That having been said, there are a few minor issues that I would like to nip in the bud so everyone is on the same page.


1) You must read the backstory information and rules. Rising Sparks requires a change of pace from normal TF OC story-telling, so please take the time to make sure you know what you are applying for before you get involved. On top of this, it is very helpful to keep an eye on the FAQ. We do update the FAQ as questions come up. Give it a glance every now and again. I promise it’ll be worth your time.


2) The chatroom is unofficial. It is not official. In terms of the official story, the chatroom is not relevant. What qualifies as official has nothing to do with the chatroom. If you were asked to summarize your character’s official story, the events of the chatroom would not be mentioned.

I don’t think I can be any clearer than I am being right now. The chatroom is merely a place to get to know other characters in a quicker passed setting. It is not necessary to be part of Rising Sparks.

If you want something to be official, then make a deviation of it. Should someone else produce a deviation of something that you did not want to be official, that’s between you and them. We aren’t going to breath down y’all’s necks about this. By joining Rising Sparks, y’all agreed to let other people use your characters. Just let folks know when you post something that affects them. Also, you can check Rising Spark’s favorites to see what is going on in the official story.


3) ~yurlene, ~Aaron-Smiley and I are the heads of Rising Sparks. If you have a question, please note ~Rising-Sparks or speak with one of us. We are more than glad to help you. Talking to others is good too but please bear in mind that, if one of us three didn’t say it, then it may or may not be true. We try to be available so please don’t take hear-say and run with it.

We are purposefully going out of my way to put our characters in positions that will provide examples of what is going on in the verse. There are still lots of comics to come so feel free to ask. It actually is very helpful to discuss things.

However, do not try to read between the lines of the comics to extrapolate what will or won’t be important in the future of Rising Sparks. Do not think we are informing anyone of how their characters need to be. If your character is made an offer in a comic, rest assured that we will not draw their response. You are free to take things however you wish.

Also, do not assume that you know what newspapers are coming based on these comics. Trust us, you don’t. Especially do not assume you know what newspapers are coming then inform people of them. We are providing examples of as many different situations as we can and, as such, there are going to be many purposefully condensed stories which y’all are free to expand on.


All and all, I think everyone is getting a little ahead of themselves. The excitement is flattering but not necessarily the best long term plan. It would be much appreciated if everyone would take a deep breath, read the rules, and then enjoy the provided verse to its fullest and truest potential.
